Customer & Manufacturing Support Chemist-Senior at PPG Industries in Oak Creek, WI
As a Customer and Manufacturing Support Chemist - Senior,you will be responsible for product technical and operational support for Industrial Liquid Coatings at Oak Creek plant.
This will encompass providing formulary and processing support for products in manufacturing and technical support of products sold to PPG's customers Responsibilities Work closely with manufacturing to troubleshoot and/or correct problem batches Actively reformulate existing products to meet cost reduction and/or property enhancement goals Work closely with supply chain to address and mitigate the impacts of raw material displacements on PPG's products Active support of technical issues with PPG products by our customers Executing performance testing of PPG products, as required by our customers Work closely with customers to understand their needs and how to utilize or improve upon PPG's products to fulfill them Maintain and grow an understanding of industrial coatings, leveraging that knowledge in technical and manufacturing support.
Maintain and communicate results through written and verbal summaries, coatings reports, test drill presentations and gate review updates.
Work safely, following all lab procedures and contribute to the maintenance of high safety standards Success Factors Flexibility - Must be able to effectively move between projects with very short notice.
Comfort in constantly starting and stopping projects depending changing priorities Multi-Tasking - Must be able to effectively balance multiple projects and make progress on more than one project at a time.
Be comfortable working on between 3-7 projects at any time Problem-solving - Experience with and proven expertise in structured problem solving methods is preferred Quick decision making - The ability to make quick decision with limited information.
Cannot suffer from analysis paralysis! Ability to function under pressure - Able to keep calm and level-headed under high pressure from other functions and very short timelines while delivering good results.
Not afraid to fail - Willing to take calculated risks and occasionally fail; learn from failure and apply to future projects/issues.
